The research project aims to identifying the main features that should characterize a crowdsourcing and technology scouting platform in order to enhance the innovativeness of the Apulian industrial ecosystem in an effective and efficient way. Moreover, the project aims to define and analyze the main design characteristics and to prototype the platform. Specifically, the designed platform should favor the match between demand and offer of innovation, supporting technology transfer processes and the development of local startup and SMEs.
Several step are planned to achieve the objectives of the project.
Firstly, a literature review on crowdsourcing and technology scouting will be conducted, to retrieve the most recent scientific knowledge and to identify main features and issues of these open innovation strategies. In particular, the literature review will be focused on the characteristics of both firms that adopt these innovation strategies and platforms that favor the match between demand and offer of innovation. Afterwards, a case study analysis will be performed to identify the critical success factors of existing crowdsourcing and technology scouting platforms. This step will be useful to clearly recognize which design features enhance the effectiveness and the efficiency of platforms, taking into account the specific characteristics and needs of the local industries. Moreover, during this phase, the analysis will also focus on the need to connect Apulian firms with national and international organizations.
Once the main design features will be defined, the following step will be the design of the crowdsourcing and technology scouting platform, that may effectively serve the firms belonging to the Apulian industrial ecosystem. The defined platform design will be validated through interviews with the main stakeholders of the research project, allowing to tailor the platform to the local firms’ needs.
Finally, on the basis of the outputs of the previous steps and the defined design, a platform will be prototyped. This prototype may serve as a base on which it would be possible to develop a tool aiming at stimulating the innovativeness of the Apulian industrial ecosystem.
